The government has increased the price of cowhide by Tk 5 per square feet compared to last year, setting the rate at Tk 60-65 within Dhaka while Tk 55–60 outside Dhaka.

Besides, the prices of goat (Khashi) and goat (Bakri) hides have been increased by Tk 2, fixing the rate at Tk 22–27 per square feet, while salt-applied goat hide will be sold at Tk 20–22.

Commerce Adviser SK Bashir Uddin came up with the information while speaking at a press briefing held at the Secretariat on Sunday.

A minimum per-piece price for cowhide has been set at Tk 1,350 in Dhaka and Tk 1,150 outside the capital.

Last year, the salt-applied raw cowhide price was also Tk 60–65 per square feet in Dhaka, but only Tk 50–55 outside Dhaka.

Goat (Khashi) hide prices were fixed at Tk 20–25 and Goat (Bakri) hides at Tk 18–20 per square feet.

The minimum per-piece price for cowhide was Tk 1,200 in Dhaka and Tk 1,000 outside Dhaka.

A small cowhide measuring 20 square feet or a hide from a cow worth Tk 1 lakh would fetch the minimum per-piece price under the new structure, reports UNB.
