Khulna road crash leaves three dead

Three people, including a woman, were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a three-wheeler (easybike) and a pickup van on Khulna-Satkhira highway in Dumuria upazila of Khulna district on Monday morning.


The deceased were identified as easybike driver Mohammad Zahidul Modol, 25, son of Rafiqul Islam of Kharasda village, passengers Rina Khatun, 36, of Uttar Kalikapur village, and Mohammad Rustom Ali Khan, 65, of Bagdari village. They all hailed from the Dumuruia upazila.

Highway Police and Fire Service said the Chuknagar-bound pickup van lost control and rammed into the three-wheeler coming from the opposite direction in Jilerdanga area around 8:45am.

The accident left Rina and Rustom dead on the spot and six others injured, according to them.

Of them, driver Zahidul succumbed to his injuries on the way to Khulna Medical College Hospital, reports UNB. 

Md Masud Rana, officer-in-Charge of Dumuria Police Station, said legal measures were underway in this regard.
