Authorities have discovered around 13.5 tons of bullet shells stored in a warehouse in Ahmedpur Bazar of Baraigram upazila in Natore, sparking concern among local residents on Saturday.

Police and army personnel visited the site and began verifying the source and legality of the massive stockpile.

The warehouse belongs to Shihab Uddin, owner of Baba-Mayer Doa Enterprise. Locals informed police after noticing the large quantity of bullet casings stored there.

Shihab Uddin claimed that he had purchased the casings as scrap metal from an auction at Rajendrapur Cantonment in Gazipur, paying about Tk 40 per kilogram.

Superintendent of Police Tarikul Islam inspected the warehouse, reviewed the businessman’s documents, and spoke with him regarding the purchase.

“The gate pass and papers appear to be in order,” he said, adding that a general diary (GD) has been filed at Baraigram Police Station for record and further verification, reports UNB.
