Woman gives birth on running Dhaka-bound train

A woman gave birth to a baby boy on her way to Dhaka on a train from Rajshahi on Friday.

Parul, wife of Titu of Rajshahi district, gave birth on the Silk City Express around 11:30am, Dhaka Divisional Commercial Officer (DCO) Shawkat Jamil Mohsin told UNB.

He said Parul, the mother of the newborn, was travelling alone as her husband was in Dhaka. The passenger of the train assisted her during her labour.

Parul’s husband received her and the child at Dhaka Station and both mother and child are doing well, said DCO Shawkat Jamil.
