All banks, financial institutions and the country’s two stock exchanges will remain closed for three consecutive days from Thursday due to Christmas and the weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) said on Wednesday that trading will remain suspended on Thursday as part of the government-declared general holiday for Christmas, the biggest religious festival of the Christian community.

On the day, all government, semi-government, autonomous and private offices will remain closed.

Banking operations as well as transactions at non-bank financial institutions will also remain suspended due to the Christmas holiday, resulting in a halt to share trading, clearing, settlement and all related capital market activities.

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) will also keep its official activities closed on Thursday.

As Friday and Saturday are weekly public holidays, there will be no trading in the stock market for three straight days—from Thursday to Saturday, reports UNB.

Normal trading and banking operations will resume on Sunday (December 28) after the holidays.
