The government has appointed senior broadcast journalist Kazi Jesin as the director general (DG) of Bangladesh Television (BTV) on a one-year contractual basis, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday.

The notification, issued by the ministry's Contract and Foreign Recruitment Wing, said the appointment was made under Section 11(2) of the Bangladesh Television Authority Act, 2001.

It said Kazi Jesin will serve as BTV director general for one year from the date of joining, subject to relinquishing any other profession, business or employment with any government, semi-government, private institution or organisation.

The notification added that the remaining terms and conditions of the appointment will be specified in the contract agreement, reports UNB.

It also said the order was issued in the public interest.
