DHAKA - Marzouq Chowdhury shared the third position along with other 35 players earned three points after the fourth round games in the Open Under-14 group qualifying stage of the FIDE Online Rapid World Cup Cadets and Youth Chess now being held at online chess platform Tornello.
Syed Ridwan earned one point after fourth round in the open Under-14 group while Wadifa Ahmed, Nusrat Jahan Alo and Israt Jahan Diba secured two points each after fourth round games in the girls U-14 group.
The third and fourth round matches were held on Thursday last night. In the third round matches, Marzouq lost to CM Bhavesh Mahajan of India, Ridwan beat Min Eric of Jamaica, Wadifa lost to Kalamoukou Giolanta of Greece, Diba lost to Macharashvili Ana of Georgia and Alo gave walk-over to Attanayake Chanindi Mewna.
In fourth round, Marzouq beat Laksiri A Kavishka Gimshan of Sri Lanka, Ridwan lost to Han Xuqian Ben of Hong Kong, Wadifa beat Canaviri Adriana of Bolivia, Alo beat Mayeregger Gonzalez Renata of Paraguay and Diba beat Elakshi Srivastava of India.BSS
