Dhaka, 21 Dec - Bangabandhu 46th National Athletics competition begins from Dec 23 at Bangladesh Army Stadium in the city.
Prime Minister's principal secretary Tofazzel Hossain Miah is expected to inaugurate the three-day meet as the chief guest, organized by Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF).
BAF's vice president advocate Noor Uddin Chowdhury Noyon, MP, will preside over the opening ceremony.
Nearly 500 men's and women's athletes from different institutions, 64 districts, 8 division, universities, education boards, Bangladesh Krira Sikkha Prothistan, Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation and affiliated military and civil forces will take part in this biggest and most colorful sports event of the country.
In the competition, 40 events will be held in men and women group. Among them 22 events will be held in men's group and 18 events will be held in women's group.
Cash prizes of Taka 3,000, Taka 2,000 and Taka 1,000 will be given to the first, second and third place finishers of the forty events of the competition while in addition the record holders will have cash prizes of Taka 5,000.
In this regards, a press conference was held today (Wednesday) at conference room of Bangabandhu National Stadium to provide all the details of the meet.
BAF's vice president advocate Noor Uddin Chowdhury Noyon, MP, presided over the press conference.
BAF's vice president Mohammad Jayedul Alom and Tofazzal Hossain, BAF's general secretary advocate Abdur Rokib (Montu) and BAF's treasurer Jamal Hossain, were among others, also present in the press conference.
