Dhaka, 21 Jan - Considering the financial aspect of women's kabaddi players of the country, the first-ever Corporate Women's Kabaddi

League sets to roll from Sunday at National Kabaddi Stadium in the
city.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russel is expected to open the league as the chief guest at 7 pm.

Six teams, sponsored by six commercial organisations, will participate in the double league format of the event, organised by Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF).
 
Bengal Group sponsored Bengal Warriors, Ahsan Group sponsored Motlob Thunder, Eco Fresh International Limited sponsored Narshingdi Legends, Bridge Pharma sponsored Dhaka Twelve and Techno Media sponsored Techno Media and Narayanganj Gladiators.

Six players appeared in the national team last have been named icon players based on their performance. Motlob Thunder's icon is Sharmin Sultana Rima, Bengal Warriors' icon Hafiza Akter, Narayanganj Gladiators's icon Disha Moni Sarkar, Dhaka Twelve's icon Rekha Akter, Narsingdi Legends' icon Rubali Akter and Techno Media's icon Smrity Akter.

Addressing at a press conference held today (Saturday) at Bangladesh Olympic Association's Auditorium, BKF's general secretary and Bangladesh Tourist Police's Additional Inspector General of Police Habibur Rahman said, "All those, who walk in the country's women's sports arena, come from the middle class family. The woman players of cricket and football get enough remuneration but don't get enough remuneration from other sports events, the
kabaddi players will be benefited if the corporate kabaddi league can be organised, the girls will get interest in kabaddi and the federation will get enough players and it'll be possible to find out more talented players from the league. I believe the corporate kabaddi league will lead awakening of the women's kabaddi in the country."
 
He informed that they are systematically working to take the country's kabaddi ahead. Around 100 women's players have been trained in the residential camp for the last three months along with the national team's players selected from the IGP Cup U-18 Youth Kabaddi held in January last year to improve the standard of play of Corporate Kabaddi League. Among the hundred players seventy eight players have been picked up to form six franchise teams for the league.

Habibur Rahman, who is also chairman of the corporate kabaddi league, informed that Taka 15 lakh will be equally distributed among the six participant teams in the league while in addition the champions and runners-up teams will have prize money of Taka one lakh and Taka 50 thousand respectively.
