Youth Games: Inter-district phase concludes

Dhaka, 22 Jan  - The inter-district phase of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games 2023', organized by the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA), concluded Sunday at different districts across the country.

Khulna Divisional inter-district phase athletics was held at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.

Emon Hossain of Khulna district emerged first in the both men's 100 and 200 meters race. Khulna's Borhan Uddin and Narail's Siam Hossain emerged top in the 800 and 1500 meter races respectively. Samiul Islam of Khulna emerged top in the men's shot put.

Moyna of Jessore district emerged first in the women's 100m race while Azmi of the same district emerged top in the in 200m and 400m race. Shaila Khanam of Narail emerged top in the 800m race while Nupur Karmakar of the same district emerged first in 1500m race. Jhenaidah emerged first in the women's shot put and Maina Khanam of Jessore emerged top in the in high jump event.

Earlier, Khulna city mayor Talukdar Abdul Khalek formally inaugurated the athletics event as the chief guest, presided by acting divisional commissioner Md. Abdur Rashid.

Khula's deputy commissioner Khandaker Yasin Arefin and member of Olympic Association and General Secretary of Divisional District Sports Association SM Mortuza Rashidi Dara ws present as the special guest. 

Dhaka divisional inter-district phase athletics was held at Tangail district stadium.
 
At the end of the competition, Tangail additional deputy commissioner (general) Oliuzzaman handed over the prizes to the winners. Tangail District Sports Association (DSA) general secretary Mirza Moinul Hossain Liltu, DSA's joint general secretary Matinuzzaman Khan Sukhan, DSA's members Vromon Chandra Ghosh Jhuton and Anisur Rahman Alo, and other officials of the DSA also present there.

On the day, nine events of the men's athletics were held with Siam of Tangail district emerged first in the men's 100m race. Tainul Alam Molla of Gopalganj district top in the 200m and 400m race and Masum Mia of Kishorganj district emerged first in 800m race and Shakhawat of Kishorganj district emerged top in the 1500m race. 

Rahim Mollah of Gopalganj district emerged first men's high jump, Tajul Islam of Tangail district emerged top in long jump and Rifat Bhuiyan of Kishoreganj district emerged first in shot put event.

While in the women's event, Meem of Tangail district emerged first in the 100m, 200m and 400m race while Brishty of the same district emerged top in the 800m race. Julekha Khanam of Gopalganj district emerged top in 1500m race. Tania Aktar of Shariatpur district emerged top in women's high jump, Shahida Aktar of Tangail district emerged top in long jump and Samia Aktar of the same district emerged top in the women's shot put event.
Tasfiqur Rahman of Tangail district emerged first in the men's singles kata karate event while Nazmain Ullah Navin of Narayanganj finished second position held at the Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex in Dhaka. Isa Ahmed of Narsingdi emerge first in kumi -45 kg weight category while Safin Redwan of Munshiganj finished second position. Ryan Khan of Narayanganj emerged top in the - 50 kg weight categorty while Mamunul Hasan of Faridpur finished second position. Habibur Rahman of Gazipur emerged top in the -55 kg weight category while Nazmain Ullah Navin of Narayanganj finished second position. Junaid of Munshiganj emerged first in the -60 kg weight category while Maruf Khan of Gazipur finished second position. Arafat of Gazipur emerged first in -67 kg weight category while Shahabuddin Bipu of Narayanganj finished second position. Yasin of Munshiganj emerged first in the -75 kg weight category while Minhajur Rahman of Gazipur finished second position. Yasin Islam of Gazipur emerged top in +75 kg weight category while Arnab Niyogi of Rajbari finished second position.

Saraf Anjum of Faridpur emerged first in women's singles kata event while Munni of Rajbari finished second position. Eva Akhter of Munshiganj emerged first in the kumi -40 kg weight category while Neela Aktar of Gazipur finished second position. Nusrat Jahan of Tangail emerged first in the -45 kg weight category while Shikha Akhtar of Gazipur finished second position. Riya of Faridpur emerged first in -50 kg weight category while Sharika of Gazipur finished second position. Mani Aktar of Gazipur emerged top in the -55 kg weight category while Sithuri Mimi of Tangail finished second position.

Nasrin Akter of Narsingdi emerged first in the -61 kg weight category while Israt Jahan Moon of Narayanganj finished second position. Jannatul Zara Utsha of Narayanganj emerged first in the 68 kg weight category while Mukta of Shariatpur finished second position. Ritu of Gazipur emerged first in the +68 kg, weight category while Angel of Faridpur finished second position.

Meanwhile, BOA's secretary general Syed Shahed Reza is scheduled to present at the inter-district phase closing ceremony of Chattogram division tonight. AJM Nasir Uddin, president of Bangladesh District and Sports Organizing Council, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy, Tarafdar Md. Ruhul Amin secretary general of Bangladesh District and Divisional Football Association will be present there as the guests of honour, to be presided by additional divisional commissioner (general) Dr. Prakash Kanti Chowdhury.

BOA's deputy secretary general Ashiqur Rahman Miku, additional divisional commissioner (development) Muhammad Anwar Pasha will be present there as special guests. Besides, Lt. Colonel Md. Shafiqul Islam, Alhaj Ali Abbas, Lt. Colonel. Md. Monir Uz Zaman and Nazmul Ahsan Romen, were among others, will also present in the prize distribution ceremony.

The men and women's athletes, promoted to the inter-upazila phase held January 2-10 last, participated in the district phase. The final phase of the games will be held in Dhaka from February 26 to March 4.
