DHAKA - As expected Korea dominated the day winning
four out of five gold medals in the compound events of ongoing 22nd Teer
Asian Archery Championship held today (Thursday) at Bangladesh Army Stadium
in the city.
A total of five gold deciding events were held with India won the
remaining one gold medal on the sixth day the championship.
In the compound women's team event, Korea beat Iran by 235-229 score in
the final to win the gold and they also maintained their supremacy in the
compound men's team event beating Kazakhstan by 236-235 in the keenly
contested final.
In the compound mixed team event, Korea won the gold medal beating India
155-154 in the final. In the compound men's singles event, Korean archer KIM
Jongho beat VERMA Abhishek of India 149-148 to win gold in the exciting
final.
Earlier, on way to the final, India archer VERMA Abhishek beat his
compatriot Mohit 147-146 in the semifinal while Korean archer KIM Jongho
defeated KHRISTICH Sergey of Kazakhstan 149-147 in another semifinal.
KHRISTICH Sergey of Kazakhstan won the bronze medal beating Mohit of India
148-145 in the bronze deciding match.
In the compound women's singles event, VENNAM Jyothi Surekha of India won
the gold medal beating OH Yoohyun of Korea 146-145 in the final.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police's additional commissioner (administration), Meer
Rezaul Alom, Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) president and former army
chief general (retd.) Aziz Ahmed and BOA secretary general Syed Shahed Reza,
were among others, present in the venue and handed over the prizes after the finals.BSS
