Bangabandhu V-Day marathon held

DHAKA  - Bangabandhu Victory Day Marathon held today
(Friday) marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and golden jubilee of independence.

   Organised by Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF), the day-long long
distance marathon (full marathon for men's and half marathon for women's)
formally inaugurated at Bangladesh Army Stadium in the city.

   The day's marathon stared at Bangladesh Army Stadium and concluded at
Hatirjheel MP Theater in the city after passing through Banani, Gulshan-1,
Gulshan-2 and Gulshan police Plaza.

   Bangladesh Navy's athlete Asif Biswas emerged top in the men's full
marathon event while Farid Mia of Bangladesh Army and Elahi Sardar of
Bangladesh Navy finished second and third position respectively.

   While Bangladesh Navy's athlete Shamsunnahar Ratna emerged top in the
women's half marathon while open athletes Nargis Jahan Ohab and Naznin
Sultana finished second and third position respectively.

   Bangladesh Olympic Association's deputy secretary general Ashikur Rahman
Miku was the chief guest in the closing ceremony, presided by BAF'S general
secretary advocate Abdur Rokib Montu.BSS
