First meeting of newly-elected BOA committee tomorrow

DHAKA - The first meeting of the newly-elected committee of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA), which has been formed for the next four years, will be held tomorrow (Monday) at 1 pm in the board room of its building.

   A press release signed by BOA Director General Brigadier General Fakhruddin Haider (Retd.) confirmed about the meeting.

   Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, SBP, OSP, NDU, PSC, PhD was elected as the president and Syed Shahed Reza was elected as the secretary general for the third straight time.

   On December 9, a panel headed by Shahed Raza submitted nomination papers. The last day of withdrawal was on December 17. However, since no one withdrew, everyone was elected unopposed. Therefore, there was no need for elections scheduled for December 22.

   Kazi Nabil Ahmed, vice president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and acting director in charge of Abahani Limited and Archery Federation president Lt. General (Retd.) Moinul Islam has taken place in the executive committee for the first time as vice-president.

   Former vice-presidents Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Anjan Chowdhury and Mahbub Ara Gini have been re-elected.

   There has been a change in the post of Deputy Secretary General. Intekhabul Hamid, secretary general of the Shooting Sports Federation, has joined the committee for the first time. Ashikur Rahman Miku and Najib Ahmed who were previously in this post, remained this time around also.

   General Secretary of the Basketball Federation Lt. Commander (retd) A K Sarkar, who was the member of the previous committee was elected as treasurer.

   The other members of the committee are Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, MB Saif, Mohammad Ali Deen, Tabiur Rahman, Zaki Ahmed Ripon, Advocate Abdur Rakib Montu, Khandaker Hasan Munir, Amir Hossain Bahar, Mahmudul Hasan Rana, Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi, Mazharul Islam, Abdul Ghaffer, Lt. Colonel (Retd.) Md. Nazrul Islam, Kamrunnahar Hiru, SM Newaz Sohag, Habibur Rahman, Siraj Uddin. Alamgir, SM Mortaza Rashidi Dara, Shamim Matin Chowdhury, Engineer Firoza Karim Nelly, Mosharraf Hossain Mollah and Shah Alam Sardar.BSS
