Navy maintain domination on 2nd day

DHAKA - Bangladesh Navy maintained the domination on the second day of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal 45th National Athletics competition now being held at Bangladesh Army Stadium in the city. 

   On second day (Tuesday) of the three-day meet, Bangladesh Navy's sprinter Tamanna Akter won the gold in the women's 100m hurdles event clocking 14.79 seconds while Masud Khan of Navy secured the gold in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 5.07 seconds.

  M Ismail of Bangladesh Navy won gold in the men's long jump event covering the distance of 7.26m while Sabiha Al Soha of Navy secured gold in the women's 400m women's event clocking 59.16 seconds.

  
  Nazimul Hossain Rony of Bangladesh Army won gold in the men's 400m event with a time of 49.77 seconds while Abu Bokkor Siddique of the same team won gold in the pole vault event with a winning leap of 4.15 meters.

  Meanwhile, Sonia Akter of Bangladesh Air Force won gold in the women's long jump event covering the distance of 5.66 meters while Ahad Ali of Bangladesh Army bagged the gold in the men's javelin throw event with a best throw of 61.48m.

   A total of twenty five events were decided on the last two days with Bangladesh Navy dominating the medal tally with thirty one medals including fourteen gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals and Bangladesh Army following them with twenty eight medals including eight gold, thirteen silver and seven bronze medals while Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party stand at third position in the medal tally with five medals including one gold, two silver and equal number of bronze medals.BSS
