Ziaur maintains solo lead after 7th round

Dhaka, 11 Feb - GM Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh Police maintained his solo lead in the points table with maximum seven points after the 7th round matches of the Al Mahmud Memorial Probashi FIDE Master Rating Chess tournament now being held at the Chess Federation hall-room  of National Sports Council old building in the city.

Arpan Das (Jr.) of India is following the leader with six points while nine players are sharing the third position with 5.5 points.

They are - IM Abu Sufian Shakil, FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, CM Sharif Hossain, CM Nayem Haque, Anata Choudhury, CM Manon Reja Neer and Mrittika Mallick.

Ten players are sharing the fourth position with five points.  They are GM Mollah Abdullah Al Rakib, IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag, FM Subrota Biswas, CM Ikramul Haque Siam, CM Sohel Chowdhury, CM Sohel Chowdhury, Abzid Rahman, Masum Hossain, Sakline Mostafa Sajid and Tutul Dhar.

The seventh round matches were held today (Friday) where GM Zia beat CM Nayem, Arpan beat FM Subrota, FM Nasir split point with Anata, IM beat Abzid, FM Tahsin defeated CM Shawket Bin Osman Shaon, CM Siam outplayed IM Minhaz, CM Sharif outclassed Ankit Ray, CM Neer beat Priyanshu Barua, Mrittika defeated CM Sadnan Hasan Dihan, FM Mahfuz beat Shahinur Hossain, GM Rakib outclassed Mukitul Islam Ripon, FM Parag defeated WCM Ahmed Walijah, Sajid beat Siddiqur Rahman, Azmaeen Parvez Sayou split point with FM Mohammad Javed, CM Sohel beat Yasir Ali Khan Evan, Masum beat FM Saif Uddin and Tutul beat Nurul Islam Emon.

The eighth or penultimate round games start tomorrow (Saturday) from 3 pm at the same venue.BSS
