Dhaka, 20 Aug - Bangladeshi surfers Mohammad Abdul Mannan and Mohammad Hasan moved to the third round in the Asia Surfing Championship, the largest surfing competition in Asia, which is now being held in Maldives.
Talking to BSS today (Tuesday) Bangladesh surfing team coach Saifullah Sifat informed that the two athlete of Bangladesh moved to the third round from different group. Mannan moved to the third round securing first position with 9.77 points while Hasan moved the third after getting bye. He earlier secured 5.14 in the first round.
The fourth round, quarterfinals, semi finals and finals of the championship will be held later stage.
Earlier, the Asian Surfing championship was formally inaugurated on August 17 last in Maldives.
Maldives Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu formally inaugurated the championship. Maldives Surfing Association president Mohamed Sobah and Asian Surfing Federation vice president Alireza Rostami Ezzat were also present there.
A total of twenty Asian countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, China, Cine Taipei, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Islamic Republic of Iran, are participating in the meet.
Bangladesh surfing team is taking part in the championship for the second occasion. Surfer Mannan is participating in the championship for the second time while Hasan taking part for the meet for the first time.
