Four matches of Independence Day Handball decided in opener

Dhaka,12 March - Four matches of the Independence Day Handball competition (men's and women's) decided on the opening day (Saturday) at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in the city.

In the day's men's group matches, Bangladesh Police Handball Club beat Pioneer Chapainawabganj 36-13 goals after leading the first half by 25-7 while Border Guard Bangladesh defeated TST Lion, Jamalpur by 40-17 goals after dominating the first half by 23-10.

In the women's group matches, Bangladesh Police Handball Club outclassed Handball Training Center by 34-16 goals after leading with 13-11 goals while Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party overpowered Nosrul Hamid Sports Academy by 48-7 goals after dominating the first half by 24-2 goals.
 
Organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF), the competition is being held marking the golden jubilee of Independence.

A total of 12-- six of men's and equal number of women's -- teams are
participating in the meet.

The participating men's teams are-- Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Police Handball Club, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party, Team Handball, Dhaka, Pioneer Chapainawabganj and TST Lion Jamalapur while the participating women's teams are-- Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party, Bangladesh Police Handball Club, TST Lion, Jamalapur, Handball Training Center, Badalgachi Handball Association and Nasrul Hamid Sports Academy.
