Navy, Police emerge champions in V-Day kabaddi

Dhaka, 24 Dec - The Bangladesh Navy of the men's section and the Bangladesh Police of the women's section emerged champions in the Victory Day Kabaddi competition that concluded at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital on Tuesday.

In the men's section, in an exciting final match, Bangladesh Navy beat Bangladesh Air Force by 38-36 points after leading the first half by 26-14 points.

Tuhin Tarafder of Navy was adjudged the player of the final, while Mizan Ahmed of Bangladesh Air Force was named the best raider of the tournament.

Nasir Uddin of the Navy and Dipayan of the Air Force were named the best catcher and player of the tournament, respectively.

In the women's section final, Bangladesh Police emerged as undefeated champions, defeating Bangladesh Ansar and VDP by 26-16 points after the first half ended in a 10-10 points draw.

Israt Jahan of Bangladesh Police was adjudged the best player of the match, while Noborshi Shorma of the champion team was named the best raider of the tournament.

Smrity Khatun of Ansar received the best catcher award, while Sraboni Mollick of Police was named the best player of the meet.

Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) president and Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam was the chief guest in the finals and distributed the prizes.

BKF vice presidents IGP Prison Brigadier General Syed Md Motaher Hossain, Hafizur Rahman Khan, Abdullah Al Noman, and its general secretary, SM Newaz Sohag, were also present in the prize distribution ceremony.
