4 more parliamentary standing committees formed
Four more parliamentary standing committees were formed today taking the total number of committees formed in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad to 40.
The four newly constituted committees are the Parliamentary Committee on Rules of Procedure, the Committee on Government Assurances, the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, and the Petition Committee.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikrom, was made Chairman of both the Committee on Rules of Procedure and the Petition Committee, while BNP lawmaker AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon (Noakhali-1) was made Chairman of the Committee on Government Assurances and BNP lawmaker Rezaul Karim Badsha (Bogura-6) was made Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Housing and Public Works.
Chief Whip Md. Nurul Islam Moni proposed the formation of the first three committees, while Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal proposed the formation of the Petition Committee.
The proposals were later passed by voice votes in the House.
There are 50 parliamentary committees in the Jatiya Sangsad, including 39 standing committees on ministries and 11 subject-based committees.
So far, 40 parliamentary committees have been formed, including 31 standing committees on ministries and nine subject-based committees, reports BSS.
