IGP leaves for the US to attend UNCOPS

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, left Dhaka for the United States on Saturday night to attend the 5th United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS 2026), to be held at the UN Headquarters in New York on July 7–8. 


Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed is leading the five-member Bangladesh delegation, said a Police Headquarters press 

During the summit, the Home Minister and the IGP will highlight Bangladesh's contributions to UN peacekeeping, the professionalism of Bangladesh Police, and the country's vision for modern, technology-driven, and people-oriented policing. 

The delegation will also hold bilateral meetings with senior UN Police officials on peacekeeping, capacity building, training, and international cooperation, reports BSS.
