DMP arrests 476 across the capital in 24hrs

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 476 people in its regular anti-crime drives across the capital in the past 24 hours, while 39 cases were filed during the period.


Among those arrestees, 122 were from Mirpur Division, 70 from Tejgaon, 69 from Motijheel, 62 from Wari, 48 each from Gulshan and Uttara, 29 from Lalbagh, 27 from Ramna and one from the Detective Branch (DB), according to a DMP statement.

During the drives, police seized 36.29 kg of cannabis, 92 bottles of phensedyl, 143 yaba tablets and 10 grams of heroin.

They also recovered a foreign-made pistol, two rounds of ammunition, a magazine, seven mobile phones, a yaba-using pipe, two pieces of foil paper, three gas lighters, 200 elastic belts and Tk 8,400 in cash.

The drives were conducted in different police station areas of the capital, and legal proceedings against the arrested persons are underway, reports BSS.
