IGP seeks Russian support to bolster BD Police cyber capabilities
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir has sought Russian cooperation to strengthen the cyber security capabilities of Bangladesh Police, along with support for specialised training and capacity building.
He made the request when Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bangladesh Alexander Grigoryevich KHOZIN paid a courtesy call on the IGP at Police Headquarters today, according to a press release of the Police Headquarters.
During the meeting, the ambassador thanked the IGP for ensuring the security of Russian nationals working at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and expressed satisfaction with the activities of the Diplomatic Security Division.
He also expressed Russia’s interest in deepening cooperation to enhance the capabilities of Bangladesh Police.
Welcoming the proposal, the IGP underscored the importance of regular dialogue between senior police officials of the two countries, as well as sharing information and best practices.
He sought Russian assistance in enhancing cyber security capabilities, improving the capacity and security of the Central Police Hospital, and providing higher education and specialised training to Bangladeshi police officers in security-related fields.
Senior Bangladesh Police officials were present at the meeting, reports BSS.
