City’s Lalbagh OC, 4 SIs sued for looting Tk 4.5 lakh

A case has been filed against the Officer-in-Charge and four Sub-Inspectors of Lalbagh Police Station of the capital for allegedly looting around Tk 4.50 lakh of a man and beating him.

The accused are Officer-in-Charge (OC) M S Murshed, and Sub-Inspectors Tareque Nazir, Tareque Aziz, Md Atoar Hossain and Krishnachandan Mitra.

One named Billal Hossain filed the case with the Court of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Farah Diba Chhanda on Thursday.

Accepting the complainant’s statement, the court asked the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to look into the allegation and submit a report on November 30.

The case statement said Billal was falsely accused and shown arrested in two separate cases filed with Lalbagh Police Station on October 13 under the Penal Code and the Narcotics Control Act. 

The accused came to his business entity Yeasin Samabay Samity Limited in Lalbagh to arrest him and at that time, they looted about Tk 4.50 lakh, gold ornaments of about 3.50 bhori breaking CC camera DBR, and important documents breaking the drawer of a table.

The defendants also beat up him and abused him when he protested.

The accused threatened to falsely accuse Billal in another case when he sought his money, gold ornaments and documents back. - Special Correspondent
