Members of Rapid Action Battalion in a drive held a fugitive murder convict from Ashulia in Saver on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka on Friday night.

The fugitive was identified as Sumon, 39, hailed from Khalishakundi village under Daulatpur Upazila in the district. He was awarded life term imprisonment in a sensational double murder case filed with Daulatpur Thana in Kushtia in 2007.

Company Commander Mohammad Elias Khan of RAB-12 said in a press briefing this morning. He said, being informed, a team of the force conducted a raid in Kurgaon area in Ashulia last night and held Sumon.

On January 4 in 2007, one Monirul, 24, and his brother Masum, 20, were abducted and killed. They were the residents in Jagati area in Kushtia Sadar Upazila. Following the murder Monirul's mother filed a case with Daulatpur Thana.
