Couple's body recovered in Sirajganj: Possible murder-suicide by husband

Police suspect husband Gouranga had committed suicide after suffocating his wife to death



Dhaka, Oct 30 : Police on Friday recovered a couple's body from Kamarpara Ghoshpara area of Belkuchi upazila in Sirajganj.

The deceased were identified as Gouranga Ghosh, 25, son of Dwijo Gopal Ghosh and his wife Toma Rani Ghosh, 20, of the upazila.

Police said Gouranga Ghosh, an employee of a sweetmeat shop in Belkuchi Upazila Sadar Bazar, returned home in the Kamarpara Ghoshpara area on Thursday night after working as usual. However, on Friday morning, when the family members called them but did not get any response, they informed the police.

Later, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Golam Mostafa, Officer-in-Charge of Belkuchi Police Station, said there were injury marks on various parts of Gouranga's body and the vein of , but no injury marks were found on his wife's body.

Police suspect the youth had committed suicide after suffocating his wife to death.

However, the autopsy report will reveal the cause of death, the OC said.

A case has been filed in this regard, he added, reports UNB.
