Tk 38 lakh were found after searching a rice sack on board of a Dhaka-bound bus in Lalmonirhat on Sunday.

The money was seized searching on board a Dhaka-bound bus at local Teesta Toll Plaza at about 10:30am.

At that time, police arrested a youth named Mominul Islam, son of Abed Ali Mondol. He hailed from village Tabakpur under Ulipur upazila in Kurigram district.

Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC) Ershadul Alam confirmed about the arrest of a person with the money.

He said police conducted a search on board of Dhaka-bound 'Nabil Paribahan' passenger bus from Ulipur when it arrived at Teesta Toll Plaza on Sunday (May 28, 2023) morning. At that time, police seized Tk 38 lakh from a rice sack kept inside the locker of the bus. Then police arrested the sack owner Mominul and took him away to the police station concerned.

Mominul claimed that he works as manager at Onnesha Traders at Ulipur upazila sadar. At the directive of his maternal uncle Shahinur Alam, he was going to Dhaka to pay his uncle's construction company's money.

OC Ershadul Alam further said police detained a person for questioning over hiding Tk 38 lakh inside a jute-made rice sack.
