‘Dog meat biryani’ at Tk 30 per packet: Khulna police arrest 4 people

(UNB) - In Khulna, four individuals were arrested over selling biryani containing “dog meat.”

The group was detained from an abandoned building on the premises of the Khulna Polytechnic Institute in Khalishpur on Wednesday afternoon.

Police found remains of slaughtered dogs at the site.

Of the arrestees, aside from Abu Sayeed (37), all are minors.

Mohammad Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khalishpur Police Station, said that Abu Sayeed, a Khalishpur resident, had been selling the “biryani” at Tk 30 per packet in the city.

Police were able to catch the group based on intelligence sources.

The individuals were taken to Khalishpur Police Station in the presence of Executive Magistrate Abdullah Al Imran and Livestock Officer Priyanka Kundu.

The OC confirmed that actions have been taken against the arrestees under the Animal Welfare Act.
