Sylhet BNP leaders arrested during leaflet distribution

Sylhet, Dec 23 - Police arrested two local BNP leaders from Bandar Bazar area of the town while they were distributing leaflets as part of the party’s non-cooperation movement.

They are Metropolitan unit BNP General Secretary Emdad Hossain Chowdhury and District Jubo Dal President Advocate Muminul Islam Mumin.

They were arrested around 4:30 pm, said Mohammad Moin Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station.

Police said that there are existing cases of arson and vandalism against them.

There are 4 cases against Emdad Hossain Chowdhury and two cases against Muminul Islam Mumin over sabotage.

They will be produced before court on Sunday, added the OC. - UNB
