Foreign cigarettes, gold bars recovered at Ctg airport



Chattogram, Apr 2 -Two passengers were arrested with a huge quantity of foreign cigarettes, gold bars and mobile phone sets worth over Tk 28.5 lakh at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport last night.

The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Shahidul Islam and Mohammad Arman Hossain, both hailing from Raozan upazila of Chattogram.

Group Commander Taslim Ahemd, director of the airport, said a flight of Air Arabia carrying the duo from UAE landed at the airport last night.

Noticing their suspicious movement, members of National Security Intelligence (NSI), Customs Intelligence and Airport Customs challenged them and seized their luggage.

Later, a total of 480 cartons of cigarettes, 99 grams of gold bars and two mobile phones worth Tk 28,64,220 were recovered from two luggages, he said.

Group Commander Taslim said the UAE returnees were arrested with the luggage. - UNB
