5kg hemp seized in Kurigram; 2 arrested



Kurigram, May 11 - Police have arrested two people along with 5kg of hemp from Kurigram's Chilmari upazila.

The arrestees are Raju Mia, 32 and Mizanur Rahman, 24, residents of the Gorok Mandal area of Phulbari Upazila of the district.

Mozammel Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chilmari Police Station, told the media on Saturday morning.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the bus terminal at Matikata area of Chilmari on Friday afternoon and arrested them along with the drug, said ASP Ruhul Amin, media spokesman of Kurigram district police.

A case was filed with Chilmari Police in this regard, added the ASP.

He also said the drive to eliminate drugs in the Kurigram district would continue.-UNB
