5 policemen suspended over extortion

Five policemen were suspended in Narayanganj today for their involvement in extortion from a cattle-laden vehicle.

They were Sub-Inspector (SI) Sheikh Nazrul Islam of Rupganj Police Station, SI Mohammad Asaduzzaman of Narayanganj Police Lines and Constables Md Nazir Sheikh, Jugal Mondal and Tanvir Hossain Akash of the Police Lines, said a press release.
Enamul Haque Sagor, assistant inspector general (media) of police headquarters, said Somoy TV aired a report on June 13 to this end.
A probe committee, headed by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) of Narayanganj district, has been formed to investigate the matter, reports BSS.
