12 policemen injured in attacks by quota protesters: DMP



Dhaka, July 17 - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday claimed that 12 policemen including an inspector were injured in attacks by the quota protesters while performing duty in several areas of Dhaka for the past few days.

The injured are Banani Police Station’s Inspector (Investigation) Anisur Rahman, Mohakhali Police Outpost In-Charge Shah Miraj Uddin, Rupnagar Police Station Sub Inspectors (SIs) Al Mamun and Saiful Islam, POM South Division Constables Tanvir, Mahmudul Islam, Mahin Islam Nasim, POM North Division Constables Muktar and Murad, Mohakhali Police Outpost Constables Md Hasan Ali and Rashed and Constable Abdul Latif of Traffic Gulshan Division.

Jahangir Kabir, assistant commissioner (media) of the DMP, said that some of the injured are now undergoing treatment at hospitals including Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital.

He said, the quota protesters blocked several areas including Dhaka University’s TSC, Doel Chattar, Central Shaheed Minar, Shahbag, Science Lab, New Market, Mohakhali, Mirpur, Badda, Rampura and Bananai.

Along with policemen, at least 25 journalists came under attack by the quota protesters in Dhaka, Jahangir Kabir added.-UNB
