Protesting cops withdraw strike

Police officers who had been on strike have decided to end their action. The decision followed a meeting with Home Affairs Adviser Brigadier General (Retired) M Sakhawat Hussain. Zahidul Islam (Police Inspector) and Shoaib Ahmed (Constable), representatives of the striking officers, confirmed the development to the Daily Star.
"We are calling off the strike after receiving assurances that most of our demands will be met. We expect all officers to resume their duties," said Shoaib Ahmed.
The meeting, held in the Ministry of Home Affairs conference room, included key figures such as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab).
The Bangladesh Police Subordinate Employees Association had initiated an indefinite strike on August 6 to address security concerns.
