Kushtia college student injured in clash during picnic, dies at hospital

Kushtia, Sept 14 - A college student, injured in a clash between two groups at a picnic in Kushtia’s Daulatpur upazila on August 30, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Rajshahi on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Rabbi Hossain, 20, son of Moslem Uddin of Sonaikundi Uttarpara under the upazila and an intermediate second year student of a local college.

Police and locals said, the clash broke out between the groups over a trivial matter during the picnic on August 30, leaving Rabbi critically injured.

Initially he was admitted to Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) when his condition worsened, they added.

He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the RMCH on Friday night.

Daulatpur police station’s Officer-in-Charge Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the death saying that the victim’s family filed a case citing seven people a day after the clash.

No one has been arrested in this connection so far, he added.-UNB
