Swindler posing as detective caught by locals in Kushtia

A youth arrested for attempting to defraud people



Kushtia, Oct 23 - Police arrested a youth for attempting to defraud people posing as a detective in Bheramara upazila of Kushtia on Tuesday.

The arrestee is Ikram Hossain Ikab, 28, son of Iqbal Hossain of Trimonhi area under Sadar upazila.

Bheramara police station’s Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter saying that two people including the arrestee, identifying themselves as detectives, swindled over Tk 1 lakh from two people after halting a vehicle in Dashmail area.

Suspecting them as fake, locals caught Ikram while his cohort managed to flee, he added.

Being informed, the arrestee was brought to the police station, the OC said, adding that process was underway to take legal action.-UNB
