IGP visits cops injured in Bangabhaban clash at hospital

Dhaka, Oct 23 - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Moinul Islam visited Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital on Wednesday to check on policemen injured during clashes in and around Bangabhaban the previous night.

The injured officers, who were hurt while maintaining law and order near Bangabhaban on Tuesday night, are receiving treatment at the hospital. Accompanying the IGP were Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Mainul Hasan, Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital Director (DIG) Sardar Nurul Amin, and other senior officials from both the Police Headquarters and DMP.

During his visit, the IGP and the DMP Commissioner inquired about the condition of the injured officers and directed hospital authorities to ensure they receive proper care, according to a media release from Police Headquarters.

On Tuesday night, DMP Commissioner Md Mainul Hasan had also visited the hospital to check on the injured personnel, with several high-ranking DMP officials present.

A total of 25 DMP officers were injured while performing security duties in the Bangabhaban area. Of those, nine are still receiving treatment at the Central Police Hospital, while 16 others were discharged after receiving first aid on Tuesday night. - UNB
