Man ‘beaten to death’ in Kushtia: Police

It is suspected that Sajedul, a suspected drug addict, killed Apel for money.



Kushtia, Nov 23 - Police on Saturday took a 32-year-old man into custody after he allegedly fatally hit his cousin brother with a stick at Sonaikundi Laskar Para in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia district.

The deceased was identified as Apel Laskar, 50, son of Amzad Laskar of the area.

Quoting local people, Sheikh Awal Kabir, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station, said Sajedul Laskar, a cousin of Apel hit him with a stick while he was on his way to Bheramara for purchasing fish, leaving him dead on the spot.

Hearing screams, local people caught Sajedul and handed him over to police.

Police sent the body to Kushtia Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Initially, it is suspected that Sajedul, a suspected drug addict, killed Apel for money.-UNB
