Five more AL activists arrested in city

The Detective Branch (DB) of police on Thursday arrested five more individuals affiliated with the Awami League (AL) and its associated organizations during separate operations across the capital.

The arrested have been identified as Pallabi Thana Awami League vice president and close aide of former lawmakers Ilias Mollah, Md. Ramzan Ali Situ, 47; Mohammadpur Thana Awami Swechchhasebak League Vice President Md. Alamgir, 35; Gulshan Thana Chhatra League Organizing Secretary Md. Russell alias Russell Al Jobayer, 30; Dhaka Metropolitan Ward No. 66 Jubo League General Secretary Mehedi Hasan, 45 and Awami League nominated chairman candidate of Dhamghar Union under Muradnagar Upzila in Cumilla, Md Abdul Quader, 52.

Deputy Commissioner of DB Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests, stating that the individuals were allegedly involved in activities aimed at destabilizing public order by organizing sudden processions in different areas of the capital.

Separate DB teams arrested them in raids at Pallabi, Tejgaon, Mohakhali, Dhaka Mawa Highway and Kalabagan areas on Thursday.

The arrestees are accused in multiple cases with specific charges, reports BSS.
