19 AL activists arrested in city

In the ongoing drive against the troublemakers, police have arrested 19 leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations from different parts of the capital in the last 24 hours.


The arrestees were reportedly involved in subversive activities aimed at undermining law and order by organizing sudden processions.

Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests.

The arrestees include Ashraful Alam Askor, 60, acting president of Kashimpur Thana AL and Masud Rana, 27 general secretary of the North South University unit of the banned Chhatr League.

The detainees were accused in various criminal cases, including charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act, filed with different police stations across the city, reports BSS.
