Parliament Forms Six Standing Committees

Parliament on Monday constituted six parliamentary standing committees for key ministries during the day's sitting.

Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam Moni, with the consent of Prime Minister and Leader of the House Tarique Rahman, placed separate proposals for forming the committees, which were approved by voice vote with Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal presiding over the session.

The parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs will be chaired by BNP MP Md Manirul Haque Chowdhury (Cumilla-6).

BNP MP Md Abul Kalam (Cumilla-9) will head the committee on the Ministry of Industries, while BNP reserved-seat MP Jahrat Adib Chowdhury (Reserved Seat-27) will chair the committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Commerce will be led by BNP MP Md Khaled Hossain Mahboob (Brahmanbaria-3).

BNP MP Mohammad Shofiqul Haque Milon (Rajshahi-3) has been made chairman of the committee on the Ministry of Water Resources, while BNP MP Zainul Abedin (Barishal-3) will head the parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs.
