15 banned BCL activists arrested in Dhaka's Uttara
Police on Monday arrested 15 leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League during a raid at the Uttara residence of former Awami League lawmaker Shawkat Hasanur Rahman Rimon in Dhaka.
A team from Uttara (West) Police Station under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted the drive around 5:30 p.m. at a house on Road 20, Sector 7 in Uttara, following reports that the group was gathering to plot subversive activities aimed at destabilizing the country.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (DC - Media) Akhtar Hossain confirmed the arrests.
The arrestees were identified as Md. Yakub Hossain Rajib,26; Arafat Mia,22; Rifat Howlader, 19; Md. Hridoy,21; Fahim,19; Rajib Hossain Rana,24; Md. Firoz,26; Arif Hossain,28; Abdullah Al Aman,19; Md. Abdullah Al Noman,21; Sohanur Hossain Shahin,22; Md. Hasib, 19; Farjana,21; Md. Hasib Mia, 23; and Omar Faruk, reports UNB.
Uttara (West) Police Station sources said legal proceedings against the suspects are currently underway.
