Five injured in BCL factional clash in Ctg

At least five people were injured as two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists clashed during a programme marking the Independence Day at Boalkhali in Chattogram on Sunday.



At least five people were injured as two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists clashed during a programme marking the Independence Day at Boalkhali in Chattogram on Sunday.

The incident was held at Sir Ashutosh Government College, Kanungopara in Boalkhali upazila around 12 noon on Sunday.

The injured --college unit BCL convener Arafat Hosen Tareq, joint convener Mahim Uddin, Jahed Hosen, Mithu, Altaf Hosen Ridoy and Shuva Das—were rescued and taken to upazila health Complex where on duty doctors referred Altaf and Shuva to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

According to the witnesses, the clash erupted between the supporters of Amuchia Union Awami League president and UP Chairman Kajol Dey and General Secretary Abdul Al Noman over giving speech at the Independence Day programme. Being informed police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.

They said a tensed situation has been prevailing in the area after the incident.

Injured Altaf said there was no option to give speech in the programme but the Noman group attacked them over the issue. Denying the allegation college unit BCL joint convener Morshedul Alam Irfan said UP chairman Kajol Dey and their associates attacked them to spoil the programme.

Boalkhali Police Station Office-In-Charge Md Abdur Razzak said two BCL group locked in clash on Sunday but no one filed any compliant. Legal action will be taken after that.
