Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said, “Gazipur City Corporation election is very important to us. Because there will be general elections in the future. Before this, we think that an election of such a large scale will carry a lot of national importance. That is why the Gazipur election should be a model.”

He said this while exchanging views with contestants of the city polls at Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Auditorium in Gazipur on Wednesday (May 10).

Qazi Habibul Awal said, “When we see different countries of the world talking about our election. But we cannot hold their faces. If possible, we would hold their mouths shut. But we cannot keep their mouth shut, because the world is open now. Now it is a global world now. America is talking about our election, the UK is talking, Europe is talking, Japan is talking and even the United Nations is talking. It is not possible for the Election Commission to solve hundreds of problems. You also have to take the steps that need to be done for yourself.”

He also said, “When a game is held on the field, both sides have to play. If I distribute black money, another person should try to prevent distribution of black money. The Election Commission and police will come and do it overnight, in many cases it will not be possible. But we have to gradually emerge from the black culture. Our electoral system still has a lot of subculture and black culture. With your efforts, maybe a time will come when everyone will be able to go to the polling station and exercise their right to vote.”

The CEC said, “No one should bother with black money. No matter how much black money is distributed. If you think you cannot control it. Then you will tell those who accept black money, even if you take black money, vote freely. Vote for whoever you believe, whoever you think is good. Because there will be no candidate in the booth.”
