Kuakata AL Leader resigns protesting attack on Barisal Mayor candidate



Patuakhali: The organizing secretary of Kuakata Municipal Awami League Shah Alam Howlader (45) announced his resignation from the Awami League in protest against the attack on Mufti Faizul Karim, the hand-picked symbol candidate nominated by Islamic Movement Bangladesh in the Barisal City Corporation elections. 

Shah Alam Howladar is a resident of Ward No. 3 of Kuakata Municipality and a former councillor. Currently, he is in charge as the organizing secretary of Kuakata Municipal Awami League.

He said that on June 12, Awami League leaders attacked Mufti Faizul Karim, the nominated candidate for the Barisal City Corporation election. Because of which he is very distressed. So he does not want to be in this party as a Muslim.

He also said that he is fed up and angry with several activities of the current president of Kuakata Municipal Awami League. So he made this decision. However, he has not yet decided to join the Islamic movement politically.

In this regard, Kuakata Municipal Awami League President Abdul Barek Molla said Shah-Alam Hawladar in Kuakata Municipality has been running behind the fan for the last few months in the dream of getting elected. He has not submitted any resignation letter till now. - Gofran Biswas Palash
