BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir repeated his claim that no election will be held in the country without a neutral caretaker government.

Before that, he said the government will have to resign, dissolve parliament, release Khaleda Zia and withdraw thousands of cases filed against its leaders and activists across the country.

If their demands are not met, things will be decided on the streets, he said, adding: "In the coming days, the youth should be at the forefront of the movement to restore democracy and restore the voting rights of the people."

The BNP leader was addressing a joint rally of the Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal at Central High School ground in Bogura city on Monday afternoon.

Two chairs for Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman were kept vacant next to Fakhrul’s chair on the stage. Thousands of youths from 16 districts of the two divisions participated in the rally.

On the way to the rally, the leaders complained about the blocking of vehicles and police obstruction at various places.

Swechchhasebak Dal Central President SM Jilani presided over the programme while Jubo Dal Central President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku was the main speaker.

BNP Central Organising Secretary Asadul Habib Dulu, Adv M Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, Chhatra Dal Central President Kazi Roonkul Islam Srabon, Bogra District BNP President and Municipal Mayor Rezaul Karim Badsha were present as special guests, reports UNB.
