Colourful procession on Local Government Day in Kalapara.

Patuakhali: National Local Government Day 2023 was celebrated in Patuakhali's Kalapara with the theme of 'Efficient shaper of service and improvement, local government in development-innovation'. On Wednesday, at about 4 p.m. a colorful procession, led by the local parliament member principal Md. Mohibbur Rahman, went to the Shaheed Sheikh Kamal Memorial Complex Auditorium after circling the main main road of the city. Upazila Parishad Chairman, Vice Chairman, Union Parishad Chairman, UP members, government officials, teachers and dignitaries participated in it.

In the discussion meeting chaired by Upazila Parishad Chairman SM Rakibul Ahsan, MP Mohib said, "After killing Bangabandhu, the architect of Bangladesh's great freedom and struggle on August 15, 1975, murderer Mostak-Zia wanted to stop the development and progress of this country. Today, Bangabandhu's worthy successor, Deshratna Sheikh Hasina, has turned Bangladesh into a smart Bangladesh with amazing developments like Padma Bridge, Elevated Expressway, Bangabandhu Tunnel, Bangabandhu Satellite, Metro rail. So vote for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to form the government again in the next election."

Upazila Awami League President Md. Mahbubur Rahman, General Secretary Bir Muktijoddha Abdul Motaleb Talukder, Mayor of Kalapara Municipality Bipul Chandra Hawladar, Mayor of Kuakata Municipality Md. Anwar Hawladar spoke as special guests in the discussion meeting.
