Two dozen candidates buy AL nomination form for Patuakhali-4

Patuakhali: About two dozen candidates have bought the nomination form of the ruling party Awami League in 114, Patuakhali-4 (Kalapara-Rangabali) Constituency of the 12th National Parliament. Most of them are young except for a few heavyweight candidates. Several are controversial. Several are completely unfamiliar in the area. Locals say that no one has ever seen them in party activities. Apart from this, there are many discussions in the constituencies about buying party forms to get the post of constitutional legislator. However, the waiting period will be over in a day or two with the announcement of nominations, this is said by several sources of the ruling party.

According to sources, 20 aspirants have collected the nomination form from AL central office in Patuakhali-4 constituency for the upcoming 12th National Parliament election. Among them, the current MP principal Md. Mohibbur Rahman, the discussed former state minister Md. Mahbubur Rahman, his younger brother Brigadier General (retired) Md. Habibur Rahman, current upazila parishad chairman SM Rakibul Ahsan, current municipal mayor Bipul Chandra Howladar, his son Central Jubo League member Bikash Chandra Howladar, district Awami League vice president Principal Syed Nasir Uddin, Upazila Awami League Secretary Bir Mukti Jodha Abdul Motaleb Talukdar, Upazila Women Awami League Convener Principal Fatema Akhter Rekha, Awami League Central Sub-Committee Former assistant-secretary Nihar Ranjan Sarkar Milton, Abdullah Al Islam Liton, Jubo League Central Committee Organizing Secretary Advocate Shamim Al Saiful Sohag, District Awami League Leader Barrister Junaid Hasib, Awami League Leader Syed Akhtaruzamman Kokka, his son Jubo League Leader Syed Moshiur Rahman Shimu, Engineer Md Nasir Uddin, Shahidullah Osmani, Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Shafiqul Islam Babul, Md Bashed Simon, Gautam Chandra Hawladar etc.

The source also said that every party candidate has collected the form by paying Rs 50,000. Many of them don't have the clean image, financial solvency or popularity to choose them. Still they are running for MP. But the wait will be over in a day or two. Then their names will be suppressed. Before the names of 32 aspirants, who collected nomination form in the 11th National Assembly election came up in the discussion. Their names were suppressed after the announcement of nominations.

Comrade Nasir Talukder, convenor of Upazila Citizens Committee, said that the position of a legislator is constitutional. It is a big post of the state. And the responsibility of this position is great. They have to play a valuable role in nation building. So there is a question of their eligibility and capability.
