Dhaka, Jan 17 -A Dhaka court on Wednesday granted bail to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in another case filed in the capital's Paltan Model Police Station.

The same court also granted bail to BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury in two cases including one registered over the murder of police constable Amirul Islam Pervej.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tahmina Haque granted them bail upon a bond of Tk 10,000 each.

Earlier on January 10, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Sohagh Uddin granted bail to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in nine cases filed at the capital's Ramna and Paltan Model Police Stations.

At least 11 cases were filed against Fakhrul and 10 cases against Khasru over violence centring the BNP's October 28 rally in Dhaka.

Mirza Fakhrul, so far, has been granted bail in 10 out of 11 cases and Khasru in only two cases.

Lawyer Zainul Abedin said Fakhrul won’t be immediately released from prison as he is yet to secure bail in one more case.

On October 29, police filed a case with Ramna Police on charges of vandalism and attack on the Chief Justice's residence during the BNP rally on October 28.

Apart from Fakhrul, 59 BNP leaders and activists, including standing committee member Mirza Abbas, were accused in the case.
