Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has sent a letter to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) seeking permission to hold a rally in front of the party office on Friday.
Additional police personnel have been deployed in front of the BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan in the capital centering the party’s programme, marking the 88th birth anniversary of the party founder Ziaur Rahman.
Earlier, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has sent a letter to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) seeking permission to hold a rally in front of the party office on Friday.
DMP, however, has not yet given any permission to this regard.
Meanwhile, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced a 2-day programme after a joint meeting of the party and its associate bodies at Nayapaltan central office on Wednesday (January 17).
Rizvi said the party flags would be hoisted at its offices across the country, including Nayapaltan headquarters, on the morning of January 19.
Besides, the party leaders and activists will place wreaths at Zia’s grave at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at 11am on Friday.
JCD has sought DMP’s permission for holding a rally from BNP party office to Kakrail in Dhaka at 2pm.
Born on January 19, 1936, at Baghbari in Bogura, Ziaur Rahman founded the party in 1978 and became the country’s 7th president.
Zia was assassinated by a group of army officers at Chittagong Circuit House on May 30, 1981.
