Dhaka, July 27 -Jamaat e Islami’s Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum on Saturday said that Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader's statements blaming Jamaat and its student wing Shibir of infiltrating the quota reform movement are baseless, false, and imaginary.

The Jamaat leader made this comment in a statement circulated to the media on Saturday in a press release.

Masum said, “I strongly condemn and protest against the baseless, false, and fictitious statements made by the Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader against the Jamaat in a press conference held at the Dhanmondi office of Awami League on July 26. … I would like to inform you that the current movement demanding quota reform is exclusively the demonstration of students. The whole nation supports this demonstration of students.”

He said that in order to suppress the peaceful movement of the students, the government along with the law enforcers, in the hands of the Chhatra League, Jubo League, and Awami League terrorists, took the unarmed students to the streets with firearms, fired bullets, lathi charge, tear gas on the peaceful movement of the unarmed students and created violence by killing, injuring and arresting the young students.

The government imposed a nationwide curfew and ordered protesters to be shot on sight. The events that have taken place in the country since July 14 are the full responsibility of the Awami League-led government and their party's terrorist cadre forces.

The government destroyed the country's resources worth thousands of crores by creating sabotage while suppressing the peaceful movement of students with brutal force, said the Jamaat statement.

“This big proof is that Chattogram Sramik League leader Sohel Rana was arrested by the police after setting fire to 4 buses in a contract of Tk 4.0 lakh. The government itself has destroyed the country's wealth by going on a terrorist rampage,” he added.

The government is blaming Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Chhatra Shibir, and other opposition parties for violence in a bid to hide the ugly face of violence they have inflicted on the students, the statement said.

Masum said the government is arresting Jamaat-e-Islami, Islamic Chhatra Shibir and opposition parties’ leaders and activists, and ordinary students, remanding and abducting, and disappearing. Even the injured student leaders were taken from the hospital and tortured in extreme human rights violations.

Obaidul Quader is making false statements against opposition parties including Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir for the nefarious purpose of hiding these fascist terrorist attacks of the government and Awami League. In this way, trying to cover up will not succeed. The people of the country know everything. This government will have to stand in court one day.
